That just borderlined with my 3rd annoyance. Anywho. After last night's events we laid down and talked for a bit before sleeping...which didn't go very well. I slept like crap! So many scary and overly stressful dreams about me almost being kidnapped and killed because I asked for a ride and was trapped in some guy's car and I apparently had no clue what was going on until we were pulled over by a cop who eventually figured the whole thing out by seeing that the dude had somehow locked me in there by tampering with the door handles and had a gun or something? Seriously? WTF. Who dreams that?
I think I woke up sweating and only half breathing like every 20 minutes. Tried waking up super early today to spend lots of time with Caleb until we parted ways for the Super Bowl but I couldn't wake up :( But we made the most of it! We went down to Belmont to hit up Slappy Cakes for breakfast. I had never been there before but my sister had mentioned it to us. It's this cute little place near Hawthorne with griddles built into each table top. You just order your choice of pancake batter and toppings (or stuffings) and - viola - they bring out your fixins and you make your own pancakes right there at the table! The place gets extremely packed though. People were waiting inside and out for their yummy pancakes. Obviously, it's worth the wait. We spotted a few seats open at the bar, though, so we seated ourselves right away! We didn't get to do the whole self-baking thing but it was still worth the trip! We bellied up to the bar top and watched the cooks make all the other breakfast food. But by the time we ordered, I had seen about a dozen other things I wanted that didn't include the pancakes I had been craving since last night. So Caleb got chocolate chip buttermilk pancakes and I had their Slappy Benedict. We shared the goodness. So delicious, I can't get over how amazing those pancakes were! Yum. Definitely trying to go back there next weekend. The atmosphere is fun and busy and the people who work there are just as great, really laid back. Highly recommended spot. Just be prepared to wait a long time...no wait is too long for those amazing cakes, though!
After that experience we walked around NW for a bit trying to find some Steelers gear for Matt's pup tonight. He was going to be their mascot for guy's night. No luck, though. Probably because Green Bay is better and no one would want their dog to sport a Steelers jersey.
Ha, and just like that the Packers WIN! Yeah! I was rockin' my faux hawk and old Farve jersey all day and I must say I think my hawk was the lucky charm (:
My sister and the kids came over and we ate an immense amount of food. But hey, there are 3 occasions in life where it's okay to eat how ever much you want. Thanksgiving. Christmas. And the Super Bowl.
Okay, well maybe I just made that up but it sounds right to me.
Over all it was a fun, easy day. I'm sad I didn't get to be with Caleb for the game but I'm glad he got to catch up with his boys. Not too mention my teeth were hurting like a bitch all afternoon and I probably wasn't the most pleasant person to hang out with!
Now I'm at Nikki's and we're having girl's night (: We made a face mask from oatmeal, milk, honey, and chocolate powder. And it worked wonders! My face is usually super red and blotchy with no makeup on but it's actually pretty mellow and glowing! And super soft! Despite the difficulty keeping the goop on our faces and not all over everything else, I'd say it was a good idea! Only other problem is that we have enough left to do a mask for the entire Packers' defense. Maybe it will save for a day or two in the fridge?
Off to wax Nik's eyebrows!
