Well, any hope of getting any kind of sleep at all tonight pretty much just went out the window with one or two mentions of a giant super wave about to smoosh the entire west coast. I decided to do my usual goodnight-facebook check and everyone was going on an on all over my news feed about Japan and Hawaii and prayers and sad faces. So, of course, I had to google "Japan" and sure enough there was an 8.9 earthquake earlier tonight. Plus a tsunami. Which is supposed to hit Hawaii in a few more hours. Like, all of Hawaii. And THAT'S not all folks...apparently all of Mexico, South America, California, Oregon, and Washington coast lines are under not just a tsunami watch, but a tsunami warning. WTF? Coos Bay, Seaside, Tillamook, Astoria...all of that. That's just nonsense. I really hate weather people, typically. And I still think they're full of crap half the time. But this is kind of nuts. The pictures and video from Japan are seriously unreal.
On top of all of that, my sister is headed to Hawaii (supposedly) tomorrow or something. YEAH RIGHT SISTA. She's not going anywhere. They've apparently evacuated Honolulu, and even though she's going to Lanai, and I don't quite know where that is in relation to any other island, I'm still pretty sure that's one of the more remote ones and it's probably not a good idea to be flying directly into the eyeball of a giant natural disaster. Ya, she's not going.
(:
Well, I don't think I'm going to be able to turn off the news now so...good morning, I guess!
And P.S. people, just because there's a warning on the Oregon coast doesn't mean that Pioneer Square is going to be washed up by the time you wake up to pee in the morning. Tsunamis don't go inland. And depending on where exactly the wave hits Hawaii, it could be nothing on our coastlines! So, chill just a bit.
