Moved C up to Bellevue yesterday. Woke up around 8 or 9 still wacked out on Benedryl from the god awful allergies I happened to inherit over night on Saturday. Packed up the U-Haul, stuffed the Jeep full of clothes, and went to the storage unit for more stuff. Somehow we managed to get his bajillion pound couch out of the tiny unit, on to a cart, around tight corners, in and out of an elevator, and up into the truck with no fatalities. Then the 3 hour drive. Had to drive separate, obviously, so there was a lot of munching on Wheat Thins and singing to myself off key. Finally we made it, I don't think it stopped raining for one minute of the entire drive. Brutal. Unpacking seemed to be going super well, we found some of those little bell hop carts you see at hotels that carry your luggage and stuffed them full of all the bags and clothes and smaller boxes. Only 3 trips up the elevator and we had it all done. Then came the tables, mattress, and box spring...cake. But the second round of couch wrestling didn't go so well. We carried it all the way to the elevator but when I had to set it down I was wedged in between the wall and the stupid leather beast and dropped its dumb wooden foot right on top of my precious breakable one. FML. Now I have a few purple toes and a spot where the wood clearly punctured my skin. Again, FML. To make matters worse, it's about 7 by this point and we still have to sign the lease and take the U-Haul back to somewhere in Kirkland. So we drive all the way there and decide on the way back that we will just grab some Taco Bell and get back to start organizing. Problem. We drove around for an hour and how many Taco Bells did we find? Zero. We even stopped into a 7 Eleven and asked but they clearly had no idea. So after passing our fifth Wendy's within 5 miles we decided to just give up and grab a hamburger. Lame. What kind of city doesn't have at least 3 T Bells within 3 minutes of each other? I guess that's just good ol' ghetto Milwaukie.
Anyway, finally made it back to the apartment around 9 and threw stuff in the washer, dishwasher, hand washed everything else that didn't fit, organized clothes and dishes, fixed up the furniture, made the bed, showered, and passed out around midnight. Longest day ever.
The place looks great though. Just need to make one more Ikea run for some lamps and stuff. C ended up having to work today instead of Wednesday so I'm laying around as long as humanly possible. My foot is throbbing and I'm pretty sure I pulled at least 4 muscles. Not that I have much of a choice, though. The only food we have are some left over Wheat Thins, Cheetos, and some orange juice, it's pouring down rain and I have probably 2 dollars in my checking account. Sweet. Oh and no cable yet. Can't wait for him to be off work!
